Nigeria joined other countries and the global biosafety community with the establishment of the Nigerian Biological Safety Association (NiBSA) on November 24, 2010.
NiBSA is a multidisciplinary, non-governmental, and not-for-profit organization headquartered in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory. We serve as a forum for issue-based debates and discourses on biosafety and biosecurity, representing professionals working in biorisk management across various sectors.
Our members range from students to senior professionals in diverse disciplines including healthcare, academia, emergency response, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, agriculture, engineering, and regulatory affairs.

Any person with an interest in biological safety can be considered for membership.
Organizations or bodies corporate having interest in biological safety, including biosecurity and biorisk management.
Students with an interest in biological safety shall be eligible for student membership.
Persons who have made outstanding contributions to biological safety or distinguished themselves in service to the association.
NiBSA seeks to influence and support emerging legislations and standards in the areas of biosafety, biosecurity, and biotechnology by partnering with leading organizations.
